Over the past year, I have constantly put my hair up. I have always had a "doulbe crown". The thing is, my hair has started thinning in the crown and if I don't disguise it, my scalp shows through. I want to get a short cut (boy short in the back and layered on top). My question is, will this show my bald spot more. I want to quit wearing my hair up but it is unmanageable so I want to cut it to give it a break. Please help! I have an appointment in 1 week with a stylist.

Hi Shannon!I don't think can help you with the haircut question(whether the cut you want will let the scalp show through)but may I suggest that maybe you don't have to cut at all?I thinkk that what may be causing your thinnning hair is that maybe you are pulling it too tight when wearing it up-barretes and the like aren't the best for wearing in your hair all the time-I'd show a good, knowledgable hairdresser, or even a good dermatologist, how you've normally put up your hair, and then let them tell you if they think it's thinning because of that. Now be aware there are some stylists who want to make a buck or two, so they may just tell you that you need it cut whether you do or not. If you are suspicious, why not try just not putting your hair up for several months(I'd give it at least 6 months or more) and see what happens? Take care to use gentle shampoos and conditioners, don't use any with SODIUM LAURYL SULFITE, as this is very harsh, and try not to use any with guar or fixative in it(acrylates, co-polymers)it can build up. I hope this helps!Holly
