Hi.I would like some suggestions, please.I am in my late 30's,and I've been dying my hair for 5-6 years to cover the gray.I'm getting tired of the constant touching up of roots, though.I'm ready to go gray, but how does one do it gracefully? My hair is thick, wavy and waist-length--and I don't want to cut it!I've mostly used Avantage or Clairol, light golden brown.the faded gold looks awful with the silvery white roots coming in.

I would find a salon that does alot of foiling. A combination of highlight w/bleach to break up the colored lenghs and some lowlights to cover a little of the grey in the regrowth area. If done properly, this is a great way to go grey gradually without an unkept, growing out look. Call some places for consiltation and ask stylists (without telling them my suggestion) what they think you should do. Remember not to feel obligated because of consiltation, and use your reasoning to determine what stylist seems to have the best idea.
