I have experienced hair loss due to child birth twice. The first time was when my son was born. About eighteen months after I gave birth to him, I started loosing my hair and it didn't stop till he was four. The second time was when I gave birth to my daughter. It started when she was about six months old and it continues to fall out though it has slowed down somewhat. Before my daughter was born and while I was pregnant with her, my hair was past the middle of my back, almost down to my waist. I had to have it cut short because it fell out so much that it looked real thin on the ends. I bought Nioxin and noticed some improvement and I do take dietary supplements. Can anyone give me any advice as to how to grow it out faster and what could be causing my hair to fall out that long? Thanks for any replies.

Dear Karen,Hi there! First of all, it is ironic that you posted this today since I was talking with my Chemistry professor about the exact same topic earlier. She is pregnant now and is due in may. She said that after her first child, she experinced severe hair loss (she said it was falling out in clumps). We attributed that to the drastic fluctuation of hormones both before and following birth. Anyway, all of her hair is back and it is thick too, so I guess this is actually a common problem-- although I would venture to say that you should really check it all out with you OBGYN. Also, if you have read down the board a ways, you can see that there is a recent rage of Viviscal. I myself, have just bought my first pack. You should read Regina's article on the topic-- it sounds really promissing! Best Wishes!Sherry> I have experienced hair loss due to child birth twice.> The first time was when my son was born.
