My hair is currently dyed a light red, my natural color is medium brown. I am considering going light blonde but have concerns on the cost and time involved.Any information on the cost and time involved, pros, cons etc... would be greatly appreciated.

Hi there!I have dark blond to light brown hair that and I have it totally highlighted right now! Believe me, I loved it for about a week and a half, and then came the roots! At my salon, it costs about $100 for a full head of foils-- I didn't want a double process color becasue foils look more natural. Anyway, the up keep with going blonde is increadible, and although I do like myself blonde, I have already made an appointment for next week to have some lowlights put back in--Sherry~> My hair is currently dyed a light red, my natural> color is medium brown. > I have had my hair high lighted for years, however my hair became overprocessed(the ends all light). I went back to the expensive salon & had my hair lowlighted, my roots lightened & a few highlights. Cost was $160.00 (w/a cut) My girlfriend was doing it prior to that for way less:( By the way my natural color is a light brown. Its been about 6 weeks & I plan on going in next week. I really hate having roots! I like the color though & my hair feels better now.Maybe you should just try highlights & make sure they use color to lighten you & NOT bleach....you should only have to have it done every 2 to 3 months....& also make sure she doesn't rehighlight what is already lightened.....thats what happened to me in the past.....it only dries out your hair! GOOD LUCK

First of all, if your hair really is a medium brown, the best way to go "blonde" is to have highlights(foils); if you want to go blonde allover, you will have to have a double process(bleach then tone), and that can be damaging.I have medium dark blonde hair, and I used to lighten my hair myself with a high-lift blonde from the drugstore. I really got good results, but I wanted to go a bit deeper, so I decided to start getting it done professionally. Since I have allover blonde, I sometimes just get my roots done, and other times I have my allover color refreshed. She uses a 30 vol developer on my roots, and a much lower developer on the rest of my hair, so there's minimal damage, if any. A root touch-up at my salon is $35, and allover refreshing is $50, and I get my hair touched up about every 5 weeks.I love being blonde(my color is somewhere in between Goldie Hawn's and Heather Locklear's), and would never go back to being darker. It's much more flattering to my very yellow-based skintone.Good luck to you!Kara

It's part of their Excellence Line (yellow box) and can lift even medium brown hair! Leave it on for 60 minutes. I've been using for 3 years with fabulous results. When your roots grow in, only redye the roots. You can use color shampoos in between touch ups. Once in a while I'll use a semi permanent color in lt ash blonde to tone it. You'll love the results!
