I am ready to take my braids out and relax my hair. I have had my braids in for 1yr. and 4 months. I get them done every two months. I wanted to know if a kiddie perm would work on my hair. I am 22yrs. old and the roots of my hair is very soft and wavy. My mother thinks that the adult perms maybe to strong and that is why my hair breaks so often. Please help me and any responses will be greatly appreciated.

Hi,Please be sure to read my recent article about relaxers. Your mother is right...many "adult perms" can be quite harsh and when you put any type of chemical on your hair, it can potentially damage the hair cuticle and hence make it break off. If you absolutely must apply either a relaxer or a perm, find the most gentle one that you can.Best wishes,KarenRelated Link:Hair Boutique - Hair Relaxing Article

That which doesn't kill you makes you stronger or drives you totally insane. :-)

Try Vitale or Affirm (dry hair and sensitive scalp). They work wonders for my hair. They don't burn my hair or scalp; everything else burns.I also take horsetail extract (one or two tablets per day). that makes my hair more manageable and stronger (plus it grows really fast).Hope this helps,Melanie
