Hi. You all may remember me from a post a while back...I'd been coloring my hair light brown and tried to color over it with blonde and ended up with blonde roots and brown hair. Just last weekend I finally went to a professional and he used a medium to light blonde color all over then added his lightest blonde to my brown ends to lighten them as much as possible. Then he highlighted it all over. I like my blonde hair now, but it looks too yellow. He said to use a toner on it, but I have no idea what that is. I found some stuff at Wal Mart yesterday - it's Roux Fanci Full. It's a temporary color that washes out when I wash my hair. It tones down the brassiness, but I'd have to use it everyday and I would rather not have to do that. I wondered if I should use a semi-permanent ash blonde color or maybe some purple shampoo. Does anyone have any advice for me?Thanks in advance!Erin

I'd try the "purple shampoo" idea first. I know it works to get yellow out of white hair. I've had experience with Jhirmack's version. (not on myself! I'm not gray yet!)

Good Luck

Erin,A while back I did the same thing that you did and I'm still paying big bucks to have it fixed. There is a shampoo out there made by 'Colorful' called "Gold Out" This is one of those colored shampoos (bluish/violet) that you leave on for about 5 min. The results last through about 7-8 shampoos. However, I don't understand why your stylist told you to use a tone-- he should have used one in the first place. Your process is not complete-- if I were you, I would go back and make him put a toner on your hair!Sherry~> Hi. Good LuckTo Erin;I think that I have tried to help you before, but what you need is a very light Ash Blonde, this will counteract the brassiness, but this should be done by a pro. Due to the multi colorings your hair has been through, a 'drabber' may need to be used. This is no place for the amateur to fool around with! The multi porosity that your hair must have by now can greatly affect the outcome of this 'corrective' coloring. If your stylist had used a 'drabber' mixed with the color, and done a proper strand test you wouldn't be having this problem! william
