Is there such a thing as hairstyles or lengths that are better suited for different face shapes ? My hair is slightly-below-the-shoulder length, very waivy (partially curly), course, and I am attempting to grow out the layers. I do not wear bangs (they flip all over the place, no matter how I treat them) and my face is square-shaped. My hair does not respond well to styling (it truly does have a mind of it's own !), so it just sits on my head surrounding my face. After i shampoo, I "scrunch" my hair to give it a lift. I prefer to have it slightly pushed away from my face, just to open my face a bit, but it flops back close to my face. I like my hair length, but I am not too fond of the style. Any suggestions ? P.S. I can't stand using gels, sprays, etc... and I ALWAYS let my hair air-dry. Thank you !

Hi,Well as a general rule of thumb there are suggested guidelines on how to wear hair based on face shapes. However, while it is nice to have those guidelines, it is also important to take into consideration how you like to care for your hair on a daily basis, your overall lifestyle and how much trouble a different style may be.Bottom line, there is not right or wrong hairstyle. With a square face, hair slightly below the shoulders is a good length to offset the squareness of your face.Adding height to your crown area would be a good option. You could try this by brushing your wavy bangs off your forehead and to one side. This would soften the edges of your square, add a little height to the front of your face, and prevent the need to wrestle with your bangs all the time. You can add additional softness by having allowing some soft tendrils of hair to brush against your cheeks while the bulk of your hair is pushed back to "open your face".The key I think is for your to find a style that feels good to you and don't worry too much about whether it is the right style for a square face. If it feels right to you...it probably is. :-)Best wishes,Karen> Is there such a thing as hairstyles or lengths that> are better suited for different face shapes ?
