I have had an itchy flaky scalp for many years. I havetried just about everything, including tar shampoos, dandruff shampoos, and topical steroids. I have alsotried overnight oil treatments (P&S Liquid). Thesteroids (desonide) work well behind my ears, but Ineed something to bring the scales on my scalp undercontrol. Are there any steroid shampoos out there? Please HELP!

Aveda makes a scalp treatment. It used to be called Dandruff Remedy, but they recently changed the name. I'm not sure of the new name. It is a white cream that you massage into the scalp (while hair is dry) Then you roll a brush at the scalp to clean and shed off all flakes, wax, crust, etc. It's very cool and soothing. Then, shampoo thouroughly with a clarifying shampoo. I have found that the more a person washes their hair, the more at bay Sebhorric and Psoriasis conditions are kept. Some shampoos are more successful than others. I assume you may have read the article on Dandruff etal. I did too, but find in all my experinces with these conditions that specified Dandruff shampoos are not necessarily best. I favor shampoos that clean oil well like all of Aveda's shampoos. They use oils like Jojoba that clean oil well in a more solvent manner instead of detergent. Melaluca or Tea Tree is also effective similar to Jojoba.Related Link:Pony Tails
