I had my hair permed yesterday lunchtime (Tuesday) and the stylist told me to wait till Friday to wash my hair. Problem is I have an oily scalp and my hair will feel like it is crawling by then. Is it safe to wash before then? Say like tomorrow evening about 6pm (Thursday)? Why the delay in washing? Will my perm really fall out if I wash before Friday? Please help. thanks.

Go ahead and shampoo tomorrow and I'd love to hear what others think about the "48 hour" wait.

I agree with the 48 hour wait. It was probably more important to rinse with cold water to lock the cuticle than wait 4 days.

With most perms, I use a product by Redken called 'Perm Lock', which allows me to shampoo immediatly after the perm and still get good results. Anyway, 24 hres is usually ok, just be gentle and try not to stretch or pull too tauntly when styling, and the curl will stay much longer. william
