hi,about 10 months ago I got a perm to even out my natural waves (big mistake). I was being impulsive and didnt think my hair would turn out like shit. Unfortunately my hairstylist was a flake (at London Hair in Eugene, OR.)and after asking her if it would do damage she said "no, its gonna look good". i already had blonde highlights in my hair. Anyway, after she was done I looked like a poodle and my hair was FRIED! my hair was so silky and beautiful before! why did i do this to myself? I thought bad perms only happened in cheap hair salons with inexperienced stylists. This woman was so unapologetic and could care less that my hair was ruined, literally. I had to go to the salon twice and practically beg for a refund (85.- way expensive) That salon is the worst Ive ever been to and they didnt even offer deep conditioning treatments. Oh, check this out, the manager of the shop said, "your hair can be fixed!" in the most condescending tone. Yeah right! If I had a free wish from a genie! I cried for days, and spent mucho dinero on hair products that didnt do crap. It seems like my hair is taking forever to grow back when before the perm it seemed like my hair grew fast. Is the interior structure of my hair or hair follicle, permanently damaged? I mean, my hair is growing back and it seems like its healthy. But when I look at the rest of my hair which is all dried out, I feel like its going to be like that forever. Am i paranoid? and will my hair eventually be nice again? also, it seems like my hair has grown from 4-5 inches in the past 10 months. Is that pretty normal? please respond. Thanks.

Hi,I'm not a hairdresser but I think that your hair sounds like it's going to be O.K. Hair grows about 1/2 inch amonth, so that amount sounds normal. I think that because you had highlights in your hair, usually that's bleach, and that doesn't usualy work with a perm. It just too much for the hairstrands to take, and they can go awry. The new hair growing in wouldn't be affected. Maybe William can help out with this.Holly
