Just curious -- if someone wore a wig (that has adequate ventilation) ~8-10 hours a day, would it harm the hair growing underneath, if one is only wearing the wig until the hair grows out?

I've thought for awhile of getting a nice, long haired wig to wear until my own hair recouperates from a bad perm. I've been treating my hair to TLC and it has improved. The problem is that it is still quite short from having the sad, dry, damaged ends whacked off.I am hoping someone knowledgeable will respond - as I too am wondering if it will hurt or harm my hair. I am assuming that it will be good for my hair, as it won't be exposed to any elements and will be dry when I put the hair in the wig. Thanks!
