Is there any special way I should ask for my stylist to apply highlights to my long, one-length, wavy/curly hair? I read somewhere once that highlights down have the same look as when they are applied on straight hair.~Thanks to Sherry for helping me make up my mind about highlighting instead of allover color!Jeanie

Hi Jeanie!I'm glad you decided to go with highlights-- I have a touch up appt. next week and I really look forward to going. Highlighting curly or wavy hair is awseome, it really provides some definition since curly hair can look so dense :) Anyway, whatever you do, make sure you remind your colorist that you are going for a NATURAL and not striped look (that look is over). However, when foiling (and I would go with this method over a pull through cap)make sure you stylist weaves out slightly thicker in diameter strands than if he were doing straight hair. This is b/c if you pull out only a fine strand, as with straight hair, the highlight will get lost in the wave or curl. Most importantly, make sure you really talk with your colorist-- they CAN get carried away, so its best not to say. "do what you think is best." You really need to set up a parameter! I sure hope this helps and good luck!SHerry~> Is there any special way I should ask for my stylist> to apply highlights to my long, one-length, wavy/curly> hair? Hi,Did you guys read Karen's great article about coloring curly hair that is currently featured on the front page of HB (www.hairboutique.com)? Check it out, she has some great points. I am going to try her "conditioning before color tips".Meg> Hi Jeanie!> I'm glad you decided to go with highlights-- I have a> touch up appt. next week and I really look forward to> going.
