It depends on the nature - straight, curly, thick, thin - of your hair and its current length. Can you provide a few more details?> how do i start dredlocks?

I was also curious about how to start dredlocks...I have semi-short hair and it's mostly straight with some weird flippy body waves. It's about average thickness and tends to be somewhat fine. Any advice?

You can grow 'em. But from your desciption I'd just buy some synthetic dreadlock extentions. Some may disagree, but you really should have a head of thick, tightly curled in order to loc up properly. To me, when folks with straight hair dread, it usually ends up looking just plain matted and nasty. on the other hand, there are some real good extensions you can get out there - plus you don't have to wait years for them to grow out.I was also curious about how to start dredlocks...I> have semi-short hair and it's mostly straight with> some weird flippy body waves. It's about 2 inches long and all natural. I am currently wearing comb twists done by African braiders. I am searching for info on how to start and maintain healthy Jamaican locks.
