Help...I love my hair stylist, but yesterday I went in and had my hair colored, and am so unhappy with the way it turned out, I can barely look at myself! My hair is light brown (I was blond as a child), and in the past she had done just highlights, which were fine, although never quite blond enough. I wanted to be more blond this time...and she advised me that a single process would probably be more to my liking. I envisioned being kind of a Meg-Ryan - Reese Witherspoon - Rebecca Romain type blond - not at all orangy. But my hair turned out totally GOLD - almost to the point of being ORANGE (at least in the sunlight)...definately more of a strawberry blond than a true blond. She did a really nice job, if that is the color I wanted...in all fairness it isn't a BAD color, it just isn't what I wanted AT ALL.My question is...how do I handle this? Was this my fault? I showed her 2 pictures beforehand, but I didn't explicitely tell her that I didn't want my hair to look strawberry. It is so hard with pictures...maybe she saw the color differently than I did...in one of the pictures, I guess the hair was kind of more goldish, but I really didn't see it that way, because I was looking more at the blond. In hindsight, I guess that one picture wasn't the best selection - the other picture was clearly the blond I wanted though.I don't want to hurt her feelings...but I AM kind of irritated about the whole thing. The biggest question on my mind now is, can this be fixed? Once you do a single process of one shade, is it possible to go to a different shade without necessarily going lighter? If this can't be fixed without me dishing out lots of money, I don't know if I want to even bother...but then again, every time I look in the mirror, I just want to cringe. This color is just so NOT ME. Do I have the right to ask her to fix it at no charge, simply because it didn't turn out the way I envisioned it?Please let me know! Tell me how I should approach my hair stylist with this problem, and also advise whether you think there is a solution. I can't believe I've gotten so worked up over a hair color, but I am!Christina

Well, been there, done THAT. I know EXACTLY how you're feeling. My big mistake was trying to correct it myself at home (very, very bad idea). One thing you might do is live with it for a couple of weeks and shampoo daily with a clarifying shampoo....that may really lighten it up. Or, just be honest and call her and tell her exactly how you feel about the results. If she is a true professional, she'd rather you be honest with her than be unhappy and harbor resentment toward her. She will probably give you a couple of suggestions, and offer to "fix" the problem at a minimal charge (or, if you're lucky, for free). Either way, remember, it can be fixed. Good luck and let us know what happens! Bye!
