The products that they use in a salon and the at home haircolor kits contain the same types of chemicals. The only difference is the person who does it. A more experienced hair dresser can take into account the condition of your hair to determine how long to leave the color in, thus giving you the exact or close to the color you wanted. At home, you basically just have to guess, and because your new haircolor is starting color+ new color it is impossible to predetermine exactly how it will come out. Salons may cost more, but they are certaintly worth it. Good Luck!
