I used this stuff called Natural Instincts Exotic on my hair six weeks ago. My hair is about 6 inches long, thick, fine, wavy, and dark brown. It was in good health, and not chemically treated. This stuff is supposed to wash out and not lighten your hair. WRONG! It left my hair an interesting orange-ish shade on the underside, and lightened it quite a bit all over. I didn't leave it on for very long, and followed all the directions exactly. How do I return the underside of my hair to a less obnoxious shade without making the rest of my hair too dark? I tried calling the helpline and the lady I talked to was *NO* help whatsoever. HELP!Holly

Try to find a beauty supply and get a deposit only color in a medium ash brown(about 2 levels lighter than what your virgin hair was to start with.) Do a strand test and dry and check the match before coloring the entire head. The porosity of your hair is different now than when it was 'virgin' hair so that is the reason to use 2 steps lighter color than as if a virgin coloring, it will take deeper and easier now, and the 'ash' side of the family will keep it from going orange. The timing might have to be a little less than the full amount to give the desired results.william
