Can you please tell me what % volume developer is most commonly used in packaged drug store type permanent hair dyes like clairol or l'oreal, etc.?Someone told me that it is 20 volume developer. If that is correct, what would happen if someone used the same color, but used a 30 volume developer with it instead? Thx.

Higher percentage developers means higher lift in color. In other words, it lightens the most. It is usually between 20% and 30% included in boxed colorants.Hope that helps you out.Woo
