Dear Karen,I love your new hair jewelry you have introduced with the beetle hairpins. The little article said that you wear the beetles in your hair?My question, how many do you wear at one time, where do you put them in your long hair and do you mix and match the colors or wear the same color. I am thinking they would be great for homecoming but am wanting some ideas on how to wear them in my hair. I have long bangs and a shoulder length bob. Can't wait to see all the other hair jewelry you promised was coming next. Anything with ladybugs? Those are my favorites.ThanksKait

Thanks for the compliment.Yes I have been personally testing all the jewelry in my own hair. With long hair I want to make sure that the jewelry is "hair friendly" and won't harm the hair either going in or coming out.One of the reasons I liked the beetles was because the silver hairpins were so smooth. I also love that they look great in my "below the waist hair" and also in Jane's hair.As far as the beetles go, there are many ways to wear them. I have been pulling about a 1 inch strand of hair on either side of my face up to my crown and then sliding the jeweled pin into the hair. The little beetles hold the hair up yet catch the light and sparkle.I also use them to hold back part of my bangs. They are designed to be "accent pieces" and are not designed to hold a lot of hair.I did see a model recently in Dallas who had her head covered in soft fat curls that cascaded all over her head. She had each curl held to her scalp by a jeweled hair pin that looked a lot like the beetles, although I believe her sparkly hairpins were turtles. It looked really smashing.I also used the pins (4 of them) with a fishtail braid to hold back the little hair along the sides of my scalp (sometimes my bangs grow out and leave little wisps of hair). We will be adding a collection of floating ladybugs soon. I have them sitting in the HB storeroom waiting to be photographed. Jane armwrestled me for a set but I appeased her by giving her a set of the beetles to wear instead.Although she pouted a little...:-) she is going to test the beetles out on her short spikey hair and see how they look in a variety of ways. Hopefully she will write up a review for us.Thanks for asking. I think the advantage of the hairpins is that they can be used in all sorts of hair for all sorts of events...formal to everyday.Best wishes,Karen> Dear Karen,> I love your new hair jewelry you have introduced with> the beetle hairpins.
