Hi, Again :)Yes, it's me again...the one with the annoying scalp problem aka Mount Maria the Volcano which I now affectionally call it due to the lovely scalp eruptions I frequently endure. LOL! I just thought I'd swing by and share something with you.Guess what? I think I found a solution thanks to someone who saw one of my first posts here and emailed me recommending Nizoral. I really wasn't thrilled about trying another dandruff shampoo after having tried almost all of them on the drugstore shelves years ago with no luck. But this one does seem different and I was further encouraged by several others who wrote about the wonders of Nizoral at CurlyHair.com so I decided to try it. And guess what? This stuff seems to work very well. No more irritated scalp off and on through the day, no more constant itchies (So annoying!!), and no more flakes either. YAY! I'm so happy!Maybe I should explain it was because of the constant itchy and irritated scalp I felt I had to wash everyday and couldn't even brush my hair that much. I started using Nizoral on Thursday and now it's Saturday with still no itches or irritation. Because it's not constantly itching anymore, I feel like now maybe I can try washing every other day and see how that goes. I did some research on Nizoral before I started using it and it claims to work because the active ingrediant clings to the hair shaft and continues to work for days. That's why they recommend you only use it twice a week for the first couple of months and then maybe once a week. Hey, I can live with that and I can use my wonderful Aubrey Organic shampoos inbetween too. Yay! Sounds good to me!Something else I found out. While I was researching Nizoral on the internet, I also found out from a medical reference book that yes, little red pimples appearing around your hairline and scalp, are in fact a sympton of a severe case of sebborheic dermatitis. This discovery was important to me because I was never told this before. Back in the late 80's and 90's I was told by a dermatologist that yes, I did have sebborhea (Sebborhea is an oily scalp with dandruff and sebborheic dermatitis is the same thing but with redness, the eruptions, irritation, ect. which I do get from time to time.)but at the time I saw her I did not have the annoying redness, eruptions, ect. Since she told me I do have sebborhea (My doctor also told me I have it the last time I saw her a couple months ago), I almost certain that the reason for my scalp problem is sebborheic dermatitis. The symptons and signs are all there. Plus, I have a couple friends with this offline who go through the same thing. The thing is, my doctor always told me the eruptions were due to my hair follicles being clogged by ingrediants in shampoo and conditioner and I shouldn't use conditioner. Now learning what I have in the past week, I am more inclined to think the general problem is sebborheic dermatitis and because I did not know that the eruptions were part of this condition, I did not know how to properly treat it. The Nizoral is a step in the right condition and so is the scalp lotion.I am going to continue to use the Nizoral, the Aubrey Organic shampoos between the Nizoral, the scalp lotion, and see how it goes. The most difficult part of this is that after years of shampooing every day and believing the problems were due to ingrediants in hair products, now I need a different routine for my hair. LOL! I mean, if my scalp no longer feels itchy or like it needs a shampoo, then why wash it everyday? Today two days after I used the Nizoral my scalp doesn't feel that oily at all or irritated. I just brushed my hair and it feels normal more than anything else. Hmmmm....interesting.Can I ask a question? Those of you who wash your hair every other day or less frequent? Do you shampoo your hair twice each time and then use conditioner or what? If you could let me know, I'd really appreciate it. I think I'm going to try shampooing it twice and using a little conditioner every other day and see how that works.By the way, I also bought some vitamins. One is Centrum from A-Z and the other one is Twin Lab B-100 caps which is Vitamin B-Complex. Do I need to take both everyday? On the Twin Lab B-100 caps the B vitamins listed are 100 mg but so are the Centrum from A-Z.
