I have been going to my stylist for two and a half years now just for hair cuts, and have been please with the way she cuts my hair.About three months ago, she recommended that I let her color and highlight my hair. This was to be the first time I ever had a "pro" color my hair, so I decided to play it safe by bringing in pictures of what I wanted and spending some time discussing it with her before proceeding. It seemed at the time that we were both on the same page as far as what I wanted. Well, what I got was a real disaster. The color was completely opposite to what I wanted, and I hated it (so did my friends and family). She added a few products to my hair to help improve things, and it looked a little better, but still way off from what I had asked for. I might add that she never did a strand test, never offered to give me back my money or even part of it even though she knew I was unhappy with it, had spent a lot on this, and tipped her well (as I always have) even though she owns the shop. We parted on friendly terms, but I decided to not have her do anything else to my hair and haven't talked to her since. Now here's my dilemma...within the next couple of weeks, I'll be needing a hair cut again. The other day she left a message on my answering machine and said she was calling to see how I was and more importantly how my hair was. I haven't returned the call yet. I had decided months ago, that under the awkward circumstances, I'd try to look for another stylist to cut my hair, but now I don't know. Should I go back to her since I liked the way she cut my hair, (knowing that the subject about my hair color will surely come up and frankly, I don't know what to say to her--I haven't done a thing to it since she worked on it and roots are showing) or should I start fresh somewhere else? I have no intentions of letting her ever put color in my hair again even if she were to offer (which she hasn't) because we obviously do not see colors in the same way--I'll go back to coloring it myself from now. Please give me some advice on this, what do you think I should do?

Hello. I think you should keep going to her for cuts. I recently tried finding a different stylist to cut my hair, because the one I'd been going to seemed to get angry at me for getting a relaxer done at a different salon. Well, I couldn't find anyone else who knew my hair the way she does, so I went back.If the hair color issue comes up, just explain that you were unhappy with the results because your hair came out much differently than how you'd expected. Tell her you were a little bit irritated, because you felt that she hadn't listened to what you wanted. Tell her you didn't want to say anything to her because you know that she worked hard on the color and you didn't want to hurt her feelings. If she went out of her way to call you, then it is obvious that she wants to keep you as a client and is probably sorry for giving you something you are unhappy with.Hope this helps. Let us know what you decide.
