I have always had blonde hair until in my 20's when my hair started getting darker. I have been highlighting my hair myself for many years. The highlights have started getting golder and golder. I would like to get my hair to a beige blonde. I generally use clairol hairlightening products. I am at the point where I need to highlight again. My roots are dark blonde to brown with a bit of gray. I would like to put an all over color on, but with all of the shades out there, I'm not sure what I can put over the highlighting. The girl who cuts my hair hasn't colored in a while and doesn't want to put anything on it since she is not currently working in a salon. I live in a rural area and haven't found anyone to recommend a colorist here. I wonder how big a risk it is to try this on my own. Any helpful hints or suggestions?

Try hene it won't damage your hair, and it comes in a variety of colors, including shades of blonde. Talk to your hairstylest

Hi well I would not do it yourself. Aslo the color would not be a solid color because you have all those highlight in your hair. I have the same problem as you do. I have dark brown hair and I put blonde highlights in it. I liked it for a while and them I wanted my color back. But you can't do that. what I had do do is color it all over with one color and wait until it all grows out back to it's original color. Witch sucks but that is what I did and now I am still waiting for it to grow out and then I am going to highlight it again and start all over. But what I am saying is that if you find a color that you like it will in time be all different colors. the places that you have highlights will be different color than your real hair color. So if this all makes sence to you. Do what you think is best for you. Lori, if you're intent on going back to your natural color you're going to need a color filler.If you can't have it done professionally go to Sallys beauty supply and have one of their professionals give you advice.Good luck.
