Is mouse and hair spray damaging to longer hair?

Is there a substitute, that is not harmful?

Hellllooooo MarkyMarx. Yes Hair-spary and mousse are damaging, if they contain alcohol, it will dry out your hair. You could try and use 100% aloe vera gel, it works like gel lol. I`m not sure about hairspray`s though, i think infusium makes hairsprays and mousse that is good for your hair. Oh! Vital Nutrients has a mousse that works weel, and hasn`t damaged my hair. Hope this helps....
p.s. i am sure tere are some natural hairsprays and stuff that are good for your hair i just dont know what they are!!

Hi there,

I`d strongly recommend a book called, "Don`t Go Shopping for Hair Care Products Without Me," by Paula Begoun. This woman has done far more research than anyone here and is regarded as an expert in hair care ingredients. She`s written a couple of pages on hairspray which are too long to type here, but here is a fraction of what she says:

"The amount of alcohol is hair-care products is probably not a problem for most hair types. In reality, alcohol in hairsprays evaporates too quickly to impact the moisture content of the hair."

Fantastic book. This woman has done her reserach.

Jennifer

I agree with RedHead, aloe vera gel can work very well. A lot of guys use it as a natural alternative for hairspray. Tom at HairBoutique.com has used it for years and loves it. He uses the gel right from the bottle and yes, it is just like regular gel.

Best wishes,
Karen
