Im considering getting a relaxer, but I have a few questions....

1)how much do they usually cost for males?

2)how long does it usually take for the stylist to complete the procedure?

3)how long will it stay in my hair? like months/years?

4)what kind of questions should I ask the stylists before?

5)what are some good shampoos/coditioners/techniques to maintain my hair after i've gotten my relaxer?

ok here is what i know about relaxers

Cost. It depends on your hair length, not sex. Since most male tend to have shorter hair than female, the price is also cheaper. It varies from salon to salon, according to the stylist skill and experience, and the salon location.

Time. it depends on the type of procedure you want. The basic chemical relaxing where they just use relaxing cream takes about 1 hour give more or less. If you have your hair rebonded, where they uses an flat iron, it will take somewhere around 3 hours or more.

Time it stays straight. Usually your hair will stay straight until new hair growth kicks in.

questions to ask.
Ask how long has the stylist been doing this procedure. Ask what the stylist will do. Ask how much and how long it would take. Ask if she had any profesional training

Care. Well basically any shampoo that claims to make your hair straight and smooth like Pantene Smooth and Silky, should do the job, but ask the stylist for products for keeping your straight hair healthy and straight. Redken has a new line for straigten hair called "Smoothing Down" or something close to it. A moisturizing hair mask will help to hydrate your hair too.

Ooh, have the stylist do a strand test first before doing the full procedure!

Its great, I still have my hair!!! yay, i got it the day before school started and i got alot of compliments from my friends. i just hope this relaxer lasts longer than 2 months. And how do you recommend i dry my hair? towel dry? blow dry?

Oooh, try to limit your use of heat styling after a relaxer... that includes blow drying (frying). Your hair has a lot less elasticity and strength than before you relaxed it.. It's very fragile now. you'll also want to deep-condition well and often to prevent breakage.

take care and good luck,

moisturize moinsturize and moizturize
blow dry only when you are desperate or when you are using an straigtning lotion (that requires heat to activate) to make it extra shiny for that special occasions
