Hi I'm an asian guy with fine dry straight hair. I want to grow it long with it parted however since it's short right now, it doesn't seem to stay when it drys unless I use alot of hair wax/ cream. I was wondering will it get easier to manage once it gets longer? I really don't like using so much of hair products. THanks!

hmm that is a good question with a variety of answers. yes your hair will be easier to handle when its longer cause the hair will bend down instead of spiking. for shampoos it depends on how much you want to spend. i am not ashamed to say that i used drugstore brand of shampoo and conditioner because my budget does not allow those costly yet high quality salon products. if you want to get it at a drug store, find shampoo that uses sodium laureth sulphate instead of ammonium laureth sulphate cause sls is gentler that als. find shampoo that is moisturizing for hair. you cant really go wrong with conditioner becoz it supposed to contain humectant that attract water to hair. you can always try a couple drops of olive oil when you hair is wet for extra moisture. OR.... if u got the cash you can buy hair products at the salon made for men. Redken, Schkwarf, and American Crew has products cater for men.

Hi thanks for replying (im the person above, I just hadn't registered). alright I have a few more quesitons: Layered hair styles are generally not good for fine hair right? How then should I tell my hair stylist to cut it? I can't seem to find an actual person experienced with asian hair in my area (St. Louis). I also want the ends of my hair to be kinda "triangular". I don't know how to explain it ><. But Yeah I want to grow it out long, so what should I say to my hair stylist? thanks!

well i dont know about fine hair could be cut layered. i have a male friend who has the finest hair that i have seen. its like baby fine hair. he has it cut layered and it looked great on him and he loves it. i think i know what you mean by triangular ends. you can ask the stylist for feathered end if i am not mistaken, but i could be wrong. fine asian hair is almost the same with caucasian hair so it should not be a problem. you can tell the stylist not to trim it to much.
