Well, most of my hair is a medium-dark golden blonde color, but the ends are a lot lighter still - like a light-medium ash blonde color. I have decided I want to use a dark blonde permanent color because it's easier to maintain and won't look so brassy and golden. The problem is I don't want it to discolor my ends and make them turn green or some other wierd color. What should I do about this? I read on another website I have to dye it a strawberry blonde color first and then the dark blonde. I don't know though.. :\ Somebody please help me...

What you are talking about doing is something called "color correction."
As much as I know you don't want to spend the time and money, you really need to get this done by a pro,( unless you want to spend hours studying the color wheel, toners, developers...ect.)
When you read about needing to dye your hair strawbwerry blonde first, what that person was talking about was quite simple. you want an ash color. the base color in any ash shade is green. the base color in MOST strawberry blondes is red. red and green are oppisites on the color wheel and the red will get rid of any green tones your hair might pick up in the coloring process, giving you that beautiful shade of blonde that you desire.
The catch to this is that you really have to be specific when picking out hair color. Not all strawberry blondes have red as a base. And the box color that you can buy at the drug store doesn't tell you the base color, volume of the developer....and other important things needed to make a good choise.
You also have to make sure to use appropriate amounts of red and green in your hair. Only a colorist can tell you what ratio of green to red you need.
now do you see that it's more complicated than what the girls on the haircolor commercials make it out be?
I urge you to go see a colorist, who knows exactly what needs to be done and how to do it.
