Hi all

I recently dyed my hair permently dark brown....but it looks more black - I hate it.....

Is there any way I can get a red dye to put on it to take the darkness off....seriously I hate it so much :(

Please help

Honestly, you're probably going to have to go to a salon to get it fixed. I did this years ago, where my hair came out almost black, and I tried to fix it myself, and it just ended up worse. If you try to put a red over the black/brown, it will probably be uneven, or you'll end up with black with red overtones.

I know it sucks, but really, going to a salon is the best thing to do. I'd hate to hear that things got worse, or your hair ended up seriously damaged from multiple colourings.

Don't worry the dark color will fade. I dyed my hair black about 4 and a half weeks ago and it is already dark blonde. The best thing to do is to wait around 4 weeks until it washes out and then dye it red. If you try dying it while it is that dark it will probably not turn out that good.

Hi

Just wanted to say I put a reddish plummy colour onto the dark brown and even though you can only see the colour in the light, it's taken the harshness off the dark brown / black.

Thanks for your replies.....a happier bunny :)

Prell shampoo will fade color faster than any other, and it's less radical than bleach. Try this to see what happens.

But honestly, this is a job for a professional colorist. It's very risky to try to fix yourself. Also, color does not lift color. Adding colors to very dark hair won't get you the result that you want.

Please let us know how it goes.
