I've had red henna hair for over 20 years. I'd like to change. I think the color is a little too bold for me these days.
But I'm stuck. I've been told once hair is hennaed, it can't be dyed. And I can't get it out because I'm unwilling to grow it out--my natural color is about 80% white at this poin and I have no intention of going white. I plan to color my hair until the day I die. And being that my hair is white, I can only use red henna as the darker colors will make my hair go green.
Any professionals here have any ideas on how I can change my color to brunette? Also--I want to keep it natural--no harsh chemical dyes.
thanks, Keri

You should be able to go darker, but you'll never get rid of the red tint without damaging your hair.
------------- This is my signature. It's not a very good signature, but it's a signature nonetheless.

Well, you could grow your hair out and dye the roots only (carefully) in whatever color you want to be next, getting frequent trims to hasten the process.
I'm growing out very dark brown color, I've been coloring my roots only a medium reddish brown for about six months now. it's a slow process but it beats getting it cut very short and I will be rid of my dark dark hair eventually. I wouldn't grow out the dark color without coloring the roots with "something" because I also have a lot of grey.

One of our Stylists colored over a henna (with permanent color) a couple of weeks ago....I was leaving before it was finished and I forgot to ask how it went....I will find out for you and post back. Never colored over it myself....I know it's hard to perm over it. Cheers...
