Please help me out - My wife would like me to get some blonde highlights. I said no way, but she offered a few bribes and we decided to leave the decision up to this community.
I have light brown hair and about 3 inches - and I am 25. Are highlights still cool on men?

Fine with me. Just be careful they're subtle, unless you're going for the "surfer dude" look.

Thanks - that's my worst fear - having the highlights be too bold - although I think my wife may trick me into bolds one. How do you tell the stylist to do subtle ones? Call them gold or something

You should probably have a discussion with the stylist before it's done, and make sure you discuss what shade you want. If they have any charts or swatches to look through, that would help a lot. But make sure you make it clear to them that you want something subtle. Unfortunately, I can't help much more than that. I've never had highlights or streaks done professionally, and have only had bad experiences with the home kind, so I'm wary of trying again from anywhere.

Umm, you shouldent HAVE to change your hair for ANYONE. If she is REALLY pushing the issue, I would say she has some major control issues. You have the right to wear your hair however you want, and you should only change for yourself, NOT for somebody else. Just how badly does she want you to do this? Propose that if you're going to change your hair, she has to change hers and see how she reacts.
Just a thougt...

Now that you mentioned it, she is a bit controlling - espcially when it comes to clothes. Anyway, I decided to go an all blonde color, rather than just highlights. I think it looks pretty good - the stylist said this type of color is becoming more popular with guys. My only concern is when it starts to grow out - I will cross that bridge when I come to it..

Did you go to a really light bleach-type blond or does it look more natural?

It's a natural type blonde - some people say it looks a little gay, but most women are crazy about it.

You know Chris, if you dye all your hair blonde, it will look cool and trendy. You are 25 so have fun. When your hair starts to grow again, you will have dark brown roots, which looks cool. Try to search the internet for celeb hairstyle, and you can see how blonde guys look like and have it done
