Due to financial circumstances, I can no longer afford to go to the salon to have my hair done. I am almost 100% grey on the crown area, with descending amounts along the scalp to the neck area -- but since the crown is what is so visible, to me, I consider myself 100% gray.
My hair is a little past shoulder length, fine and straight and is a dark brown with red tones added. I need to find the best brand of color that I can do at home that will cover the gray. I'm not expecting a perfect match -- but anything's got to be better than looking like a skunk -- and with the white stripe beginning on the top of my head, it won't be long before I look like that. Need help! Any suggestions?

Hi there,
I have been grey for about 8 years now and have had nothing but fantastic success with Preference by L'Oreal. I can go almost a month without having to do a retouch. The conditioner that is included with the kit keeps my hair soft and shiny with every other day use. I highly recommend Preference by L'Oreal for great grey coverage and healthy hair. I would, however, never recommend L'Oreal's Couleur Experte to anyone wishing to do a "home" highlight job... but that is a whole other post. I must go now in search of ways to undo what it did to my beautiful hair!
