It depends on your current skin tone.

Bleaching your hair will damage it, but not as much as some people make out; if you look after it you can have fine healthy looking hair, but you'll have to look after it quite a bit.

There's also upkeep to consider.

I'm guessing you want a fairly drastic change, I wouldn't suggest going platinum, but a fairly light ash blonde might what you're looking for.
You could do it gradually, or a darker shade, but it's a lot more fun to do it all at once; as damage is accumulative anyway.

It's best to get it done professionally, if you find a small cheap place somewhere, even that's normally fine, I know a place that does full ehad colour for E30.

Whoops - Is your avatar a picture of you? If it is, your hair is fairly dark, but I suggest going very light, it makes a nice contrast. Golden tones may not work well.

This is just my opinion though.

I don't know many blondes, I know one that had dyed black hair and managed to get it blonde without damaging it much; she used temp dye obviously.

My hair is notfullybleached-orange, it's not very damaged but it probably took a bit of battering getting the red out. I hope to go fully blonde. When I do, I'll tell you how it went =P

The reason I said go very light was because your skin appears to be a little dark. Similiar reason why so many people think goth girls look pretty, only other way around ;)

beachgerl is an expert on blondeness, but isn't around often anymore. Her site hasn't been updated for a long time.

I wouldent go too light if I were you, you have dark skin so it may look very unnatural. I think about a level 6 ash or beige blond would be pretty. Is the dark brown your natural haircolor or a dye? It makes alot of difference, so we need to know.

I dislike when people always go for the most "Natural" look; it often just equates to dull. She said she wanted a drastic change, so I think she'd be happiest with lighter blonde; I think it would work very well.

She asked for suggestions, so get off the cross.

I think she should go light. Sometimes when I'm channel surfing (always mute) I come across some very striking blonde haired women with dark features (warm skin, brown eyes) and when I un-mute the tv, it's the spanish channel - those women are beautiful with blonde hair, and you know they are not natural. So my suggestion would be to go at least a level 9, maybe even get some heavy chunky highlights. I think that would suit you quite well :)

I have the very same haircolor as you do. I went very, very light blonde and it turned out awesome! It's very intimidating at first, but if you find the right hair dresser and you haven't dyed your hair in a while then you should befinatly go light. A bleach blonde would look very nice on you (only highlights though) Good Luck Girlie, I will be looking forward to see how it looks.

Very pretty! Kind of need to see both side by side, though.
