Hello! My natural hair color is dark brown, but, I have my hair professionally colored a medium red color (similar to Debra Messing's color). Every summer for the past few years, I decide on a change to a lighter color. Well, this summer, I became a medium strawberry blonde, and I'm really displeased with the way the color is oxidizing. After a week, it takes on a brassy tone, not to mention the fact that my roots become very noticeable in only two weeks. All of this has made me decide that I want to go back to my tride-and-true Debra Messing red color. My hair went through a double-process in order to make me as light as I am now, so the hair is a little on the dry side, but not terrible. My question is - what do you think would be the healthiest way to return to my former red shade? I called my colorist to discuss this and she was recommending a Framesi permanent color, however, I was thinking that a demi-permanent color, like Shades EQ would be the better option, especially since my hair is on the pourous side now. Also, I'm concered with the red color grabbing too much, and producing a darker red than I'm looking for, because of the porosity factor. Maybe the color should be left on for a shorter time than usual? Any and all thoughts and suggestions are greatly appreciated. P.S. - My hair is very long. Thanks!

Your hair should be porous enough to take a semi-permanent red of your choice, at this stage. Just plop it over and it should work fine.
