My hair is naturally dark brown, went blonde (on accident, stylist put too many highlites in) then went darker again, now my hair has many red tones due to the sun bleaching out the brown. Had all coloring done in a salon (spent over $500 to find out I look better dark). How can I neutralize the red in my hair without using a permanent dye?
I have heard adding an ash color rinse but am not sure, please help.

you can go back to the salon and have them put a green semi permanent color on it. dont be scared that should knock out the green tone

When my hair was too red, I dimmed it by using a cool color on top. Any color with Ash in the name should neutralize it, likewise names with "Natural" tend to be on the cool side of the spectrum.

If you don't want to splurge on the salon again, there's some color-depositing shampoos and rinses out there that should do the trick.

Why don't you try henna. It doesn't damage your hair and eventually fades out naturally. The only thing is its really messy. Some salons do it for you but I do it at home. Good Luck

Hi,

I found something that works GREAT! Buy a 2oz bottle of Clairol Professional Creme Toner #301 White Beige Base Blue, mix with Salon Care Professional Volume 20 Stabilized Formula creme developer. Mix in a plastic bottle and pour over entire head and leave on for 20 minutes. If you only want to do your roots, then mix 2 oz Creme Toner with 2 oz Creme Developer and Viola back to normal!
