Hey everybody, I was wondering if you could give me some hair dying advice. I've never colored my hair before, and I'm thinking of getting the tips (bottom inch or so) of my hair dyed blonde. I have medium brown hair, about shoulder length and rather thick. I want to know if you think this would look good. What kind of blonde should the tips be? And, because I don't think I could do it at home, how much do you think it would cost at a salon? Help appreciated, thanks everyone!

Hi, there!

I think this will look fine- I would def. have your stylist do more than an inch, though- I would probably suggest 1 1/2 inch to 2, depending on the length of your hair.

A golden blond will probably look best with brunette hair. Because the undertone of brown hair is red, golden will look much more natural, and will blend better.

As for the cost, it will vary by salon. Some are much pricier than others. I would say by the amount of mixture that will be used and labor time (not a terribly huge project), I wouldn't expect anything more than $40, high end.

Hope this helped!

Stef
