i look kinda gothic when i get my hair back to the original color, which is dark brown. i like being a brunette and dont like blonde highlights unless the hair is lighter than a med./lighter brown, which is what i did before.
what shade of highlights(that are verrry natural) will lighten up my natural shade?

You could always ask for some subtle caramel highlights around your face. It depends on your current brunette color, go just 1 or 2 shades above it for natual looking results.
