Hope someone here can help/advise me - at wits end! Hair has been bleached then colored dark strawberry blond. Natural color is med brown w/ about 50% gray. Now my gray roots will not take much color (they only color to very light strawberry blond) There is a distinct line between the bleached & colored section and the regrowth. I have read that applying perioxide first (leave on for 15 min) then rinse & apply color may help. Anyone know if this works? Or does anyone else have any other ideas?? Any info will be GREATLY APPRECIATED!! |

Are your roots completely grey? If the grey is interspersed with your natural colour, I think you will probably have to bleach to get to the colour of the rest of your hair. I'm definitely not an expert, though. I don't have any experience with colouring completely grey hair. I hope someone with knowledge in this area will see your post and have some suggestions for you. I had to use permanent hair color to cover my gray, as semipermanent didn't take without processing. It sounds exactly like what's happened with your hair. ------------- 
Just looking for a few good hair slaves - is that too much to ask? |

I tried semi/demi permanent a few months back but that was before I decided to bleach it all over and recolor. I have used permanent (Miss Clairol) since. This would not be such a big deal except I'm trying to match a synthetic wig I'm wearing while my hair grows out after chemotherapy. My hair is just starting to get long enough to wear a fall instead of a full wig - thus this root problem is a major issue for me. IF ANYONE KNOWS A SOLUTION OR HAS A SUGGESTION, I WOULD GREATLY APPRECIATE IT!! Jean ------------- |

Is the color your applying covering the rest of your hair nicely?(the hair that was bleached>?) If it is just the new growth that isn't accepting the color...and you have quite a bit of gray...it could just be te formula. Most likely the Strawberry Blonde color is made for hair that has pigment...not gray or white hair. If you have over 50% gray (all over or maybe spots that are mostly gray)up to half of the formula needs to be a natural or neutral color. I don't know what color that would be in Clairol.
