A couple years ago I had a friend who said she bleached her hair with things from home like peroxide, etc. and used Koolaid to dye it temporarily.

Here's my question...I have 'old' hair dye in my hair with highlights that were added in a couple months ago. I REALLY want to bleach my hair enough so that I can use Koolaid to dye my hair. Does this work, or has anyone had any experiences / tips on how to do this?

I've heard you can use Hydrogen Peroxide to bleach hair, but I only have the typical 3% solution. Would this work? Is there anything I can use with it or whatnot to make it stronger / work more efficiently?

Thanks...

Koolaid won't actually dye your hair, you just pour it on your hair and don't rinse it out. It should wash out the first time you shampoo. If you really want punky colors, go with Manic Panic. Its only 7 bucks or so a jar, and it lasts a couple of shampoos and isn't bad for your hair, so you can redo it every week if you want to.

Don't use peroxide. When you dye your hair, there's peroxide in the dye, but you need the tones in the dyes to make it come out a good color. If you just use peroxide your hair will go an ugly orange, then yellow and by the time it gets to yellow it will be so fried and frizzy it will look terrible. (Pretty much the same effect you get when you use "A Touch of Sun". It will be much better for your hair to just dye it straight to the color you want using the appropriate dye.
