i have dark hair, but dye it a lot lighter than it is. what is the best way to touch up on my roots without dying my all of my hair, but making it blend into the other color that my hair has faded into?? thanks a bunch for any opinions!!

How dark is your hair and what tint do you use to go lighter? Do you use an otc box color? ------------- |

my hair is dark brown, but I dye it light - medium brown. I usually use dye from Sally's with a 30 creme developer.. but I always end up dying my all of my hair, and my roots are always a different color.. so I don't know what to do. ------------- |

You need a tint brush to do it properly. Part your hair down the middle, and brush the solution on the roots only. Then part the hair over 1/2 to 1", depending on how long your roots are, and do it again. Keep moving the part and touching the roots. Work quickly. When you get to the back it's a little tricky, but I do mine by parting down the middle of the back and moving the vertical parts to the side. -------------

just for the record, wht dye do u use? is it complements? Cuz i do the same thing as u except i dye my black hair red and i have the same problem w/ touching up my roots i started to see red-gold bands and faulty color in the tricky back areas of my head...:( Btw, im interested in knowing which dye u use bcouse i have to go through so much to get my hands on schwarkopf hair colour lol. |

What is a tint brush?When i do my wifes i use a squirt bottle with a small orifice then draw 1/4 past the roots.Hold 15 mnutes then comb thru to the ends for an adittional 15 minutes then rinse. Is the tint brush faster? ------------- |

A tint brush is a long-handled plastic brush with bristles 1/2 to 1-1/2" wide. You use it to brush the solution on your roots. You can get it at Sally's, or I think they come in box bleach. I mix the solution in a little bowl, just how much I need, as I'm only touching up the roots. It goes a lot further when you do it that way. When I do the back of my head, it's by feel, mostly. When I part, I brush on, and I feel the solution on my part, so I know I got it, then I brush a bit to either side. -------------

Ok the reason your roots are lighter than the rest of your hair is you keep tinting all of your hair, which is just putting more color on the colored shaft and ends but your roots have one application= lighter roots- dark ends. Stop dying your entire head, especially with 30 v, thats going to damage your hair and lead to breakage. Do your roots and leave the rest alone. You can use bottle method but brush method gives better control. Your putting the color right where you want it. ------------- |

Your going lighter with your color but your dying entire head. You roots are lighter because they have been dyed once, the rest is darker bc you keep putting color on top. Tint roots once and then leave it alone, when roots come in again tint them and leave them alone. Don't dye entire head anymore. ------------- |
