hi i had my hair highlighted and coloured to a medium goldish brown with a semi permanent shade all over around 8 months ago. this was a long procedure in wich the colourist stripped out remnants of the countless old colours i had and evened out my stripy patchy hair. i now have a long band of roots, which are a fairly darker rown than my dyed ends. i cannot afford to go to a salon for the forseeable future and have decided to buy feria high lift brown in a shade almost the same as my ends. the highlights are much lighter though, and i am worried about what colour they may turn out. another thing i am unsure of is how to get the colour to turn out evenly, as i have had the horrid lighter roots effect before using home dyes. all advice will be much much appreciated..i can't bear it!and now its getting warmer i cant resort to my snuggly hats.help! oh ..and i will post a picture if someone can explain how to me.... |

..just to add..using feria is not essential but i have fallen in love with the flash brown colour booster in 'chestnut flash brown' if anyone has any suggestions of other brands or shades, that would be most appreciated.... maybe even a style change too as im a little bored with my hair overall....... ideas most welcome! |

just my opinion, but i think your roots are alot better color for you. the gold is just kind of blah. you have a really pretty face and i think you would be gorgeous in a med chocolate brown.maybe even a pixie cut, to bring out your dark eyes.or maybe some soft short layers with just a FEW scattered gold highlights. I wouldn't use Feria because if you decide you don't like the color anymore, you have to bleach it out, you can't use a color remover. I wouldn't do anything to your ends, you said you had prior processing before going to the salon where they gave you highlighted golden brown color. I suppose you could strand test Color Fix on A strand of hair to strip the gold and go to a different color, but I don't know if your hair will be in good condition. You can bleach your roots( highlights) and use a golden brown to match your shaft and ends. ------------- |

| Just maybe do a small "strand" test on the top of ur head and and leave it in until u have to wash it out, and if the results are what u want the go ahead, but remember only apply a little amt at first on the top of ur head becuz my advice is that u should ONLY cover the root-regrowth part of ur hair. That is if u decide to go ahead w/ feria. I agree tho its really expensive to get ur hair colored in england! :( Well good luck! But if u decide to darken ur hair, u prob should only use a semi-permanent color gloss. |

hi thanks for all the advice! unfortunately we cant buy colour removers in england- you can only get it done professionally so thats not too much of a concern. living in london means id have to take out a second mortgage to have a decent haircut and colour in a salon. i have decided to go for a semi permanent, in a darker shade to match my roots. then if i like it i will try to grow out all the processed hair and stay natural. ive forgotten what that is like, having died my hair every colour imaginable since the age of 13. my gran always told me i was ruining my lovely hair and i would regret it- should have listened! any more suggestions for a cut? my hair is about four inches longer than in the picture above in a similar shape- and im bored! |

here is a picture of probably my favourite hairstlye and colour i have had, it looked great with my slight natural wave. im considering going for this again, except with a slightly longer fringe, what do you think?

Hi there Ames! Couldn't see the picture yet, but here are my 2 cents. Your face shape is oval, but not entirely "even" distributed. So a light fringe would help, swept sideways to put more emphasis on the eyes. A style with the hair swept back at the sides would put the cheeckbones and mouth better in the picture. The length is up to you, but given you want the old colour to go away (without having to visit an expensive salon) and a feeling for something new, why not go short? Nothing in between long and short, like a bob or so, but really short. It will take less effort and time before you're back to your natural colour. Then you have the choice of keeping it short or letting it grow again. oh noooo....i had many short bobs when i was younger and even medium short doesnt suit me.i definitly dont want to go above chin length. ------------- i can't take it no more so i'm going on a shopping spree ....H.A.R.M.A.R superstar.... |

okay, i did my hair with a semi permanent colour all over and its now a lovely even medium chocolate brown. i love it...now i need advice on the cut! aany opinions will be appreciated before i go for the chop p.s is it possible to change the name of a thread as this isnt really relevant anymore? |

Hi Ames, what I suggested previously still stands - a fringe combed straight down is not what makes the most of your potential. Since there are now two photos with this style, I guess that what you want (and like most about these hairstyles besides the length). Why no ask for a longer fringe first, styled to one side? I you don't like it after a week, it is gone in 2 seconds (well, almost). ------------- |
