right now i have kind of a med brown red base color, looks red in some light and more brown in others. i also have some highlights.

i love the tone of the hair, not too dark and not too light, but i hate the red. im always changing my color because i never really like anything, but this seems to be a good overall haircolor, but like i said i wish there was less red. what can i ask my stylist at my next coloring(i have very dark roots, and im so pale) to make it not as red, but that i want to keep the depth of the color?

any pics would also be nice

That''s fixable.

You should probably start off by using deep cleasing shampoo or tide to fade the red as much as you can. Probably you''ll be able to get it all out. The only problem is that it might fades the brown in your hair a bit too, but you could always ask your hairdresser to refresh your hair with a neutral medium brown demi.

And then the next time you see your hairdresser, you should tell her to use a permanent neutral brown dye on your roots.
And depeding on how red your midshafts and ends are you could ask her to refresh the midshafts and ends with a green base demi (preferably an acidic demi which is very gentle on your hair) the green will cancel out the red and make the hair neutral brown. But beware if your hair doesn''t have much red in it a green base color can give your a hair a green hue instead, and we wouldn''t want that either :P
