My natural color is light brown, although I haven't seen it for over 14 years. Currently my hair is dyed a deep red. I really want to take the red out and go back to light brown. I've tried an over the counter hair lightener for people with dark hair but all it did was lighten the red and now my roots are a golden brown. Can anyone help me??? How can I get rid of the red and be brown again?? See pic to the left.

I would just dye over it with a light brown dye that has a green base. I'd be a little worried about the golden brown root area coming out a little green though if it doesn't have the red in it. Do a test strand before you do your whole head to be sure.
