If it's monofibre, it's safe. That means it probably the Dome or Prohair method. I don't know about the method they use using real hair, but the monofibre is synthetic and 100% safe.

I would go to the salon and have a free consultation. This way they can guve you more ino on the procedure. But use common sense The stylist is a salesman for whatever system she/he has been trained in and will try to convince you that "putting mouthwash in your hair will remove it safely" or that if you spend $200 extra on all of their special products and tools the extensions will last longer. But also make sure you get a price quote. If it is synthetic hair I wouldn't spend anymore than $200 including the hair (and that's absolute maximum). And I'm sure they'll tell you that it lasts a few months and it's easy to take care of, but it isn't true. Everyone who knows something about hair knows that it doesn't last long. If you're lucky it'll probably look nice for two weeks. Even if you follow all of your stylists "at-home instructions" and spend the extra money on the "special supplies". You can also go to your local beauty supply store that sells hair and they'll tell you the same. It doesn't last long and it's EXTREMELY high maintainance.
