I have shoulder length, thin hair. I'd previously had five to six bundles of 20" Great Lengths hair. The look was wonderful, though it took awhile to get used to the feel. The one big detriment was the extensions themselves seemed to fall out rapidly. Not individual hair strands -- but the entire glued extension.
I now have the same amount of SoCap extensions (my Extentionist switched to this brand). With these extensions, I find two things...
First, not one "full extension" has come out (2 months now) -- but individual strands (the exact opposite of GL) fall out continuously. There is hair EVERYWHERE. I'm almost afraid of brushing my hair (with my "special" extension brush)... it seems at some point I'll only have glue strips left in my head.
Second, the feel. The feel is much more "course" than the GL hair. When the extensions were first applied and full -- I didn't mind the course feel. It actually felt like I had volume and body. But, it's the ends that puzzle me. They are so course and dry -- they almost feel synthetic.
I use Nioxin products (and have for quite some time) -- and condition the ends thoroughly.
As far as either application "ruining" my hair. I guess it's a trade-off. My hair was so thin and wouldn't grow -- I'll take extensions (and any damage they may possess) any day of the week. I'm personally sold on extensions (given my hair) -- and foresee having them indefinitely.
Any comments, feedback or suggestions on the extensions?

Great lengths requires glue?
i did not think that was the case
have you ever heard of an ultratress methoc?/??

Yes, Great Lengths requires glue. The strainds come with pre-glue tabs. The instrument used is similar to that of a solder and/or hot glue gun. The heat from the gun affixes the glue tab to your own hair. I'm sure a professional could explain it a bit better. However, there is no mess. When you think of glue -- you tend to think of it being gummy. That is not the case. The affixation process is quick and simple. Of course if you're doing a full head of hair -- it takes hours.
Unfortunately, no, I've not heard of the Ultratress method you've described. Sorry I couldn't be of help. Maybe post a new thread with that in the subject line?

Hi There,
I happen to come across you post and I am an educator for So.Cap.USA. I have to tell you first of all that shedding of the extensions is normal. You typically loose 60-100 strands of your own hair a day but add in 6 bundles which if they were bundles of 50 then thats 300 strands in your hair so naturally you will shed more the 100 hair strands aday. And if you keep up with your checkup appointments Im sure your hairdresser will not let you just have the bonds in your hair. Also that is very werid that your hair feels coarse? None of my cleints have had that problem? What color did you get?? Also are you using conditoner?? Plus you need to brush your hair everyday and pull it back at night that to might cause some caorseness, naturally your head produces sebum which keeps your hair in good shape so if your not brushing from scalp to ends you are not spreading that sebum there for causing your hair to feel coarse? Great Lengths does not require glue. The bonds are not strictly glue, but protein based material, that is supposed to be non-damaging to the hair. Damage comes from the weight and method of removal.

i wear Hairlocs method- there is no heat or glue.
by the way glue is made from Protiein.
