Hi you guys,

I was thinking about getting hair extensions but am just wondering what you all think. Well atleast you all that have had them. I recently just got a bad perm about 1 and a half months ago and it totally messed myhair up. Ive been trying everything and spent a great deal of money in hair products to try and recover. Now my hair seems like it has gotten alot stronger since the perm. But some of the parts where i had it highlighted is still breaking. Anyhow, im just so fed up with my hair that im ready to cut off all of the damaged area and get extensions? Hopefully my hair will grow nice underneath. What do you all think? If i get the hair extensions what do you recommend. I dont want my hair to be worse underneath than it already is. I heard that the glue method is disasterous. Does anybody have the sewn in extensions. And if so,how are they. How long can you wear them? Whats the maintenence on them. Im in whittier ca. Does anybody know some fair priced places i might be able to afford? Any info will help.

Thanks you guys.
I love these forums!!!

I had a situation that was similar. I got my hair highlighted, and the stylist used too much bleach, therefore my hair started breaking off in certain parts, esp. where it was highlighted before. If your roots are strong, I would not hesitate about extensions. Sewn in method is good only if your hair is thick. If your hair is fine, strand by strand is the best method. Now, you can go with glue method (very expensive, potentially damaging, esp. since everyone and their mother appear to be adding these services in the salons; yet, most people are not competent at all). I wore Great Lengths and took them off, because the hair was total *(&*&*. It looked like horse hair. After I took them off, I cannot say that there was much damage, but I did not wear them for that long.
Now, I am wearing So.Cap, and like the hair much better.

Next thing you can consider is pinchbraiding method. Read CrazyHair's post about it. I think I will try it next, because it seems less damaging and less expensive. Check hairpolice.com for more info on this method.

Sorry, but I have no clue about track method. It is totally not for me, therefore I did not look into it.

yeah my hair is extremely thick. I actually blew dried it straight this weekend and was scared to death because of the breakage. But it worked out. When it was all straight it looked like i had extentions in it anyways. LOL so yes its really thick. Im going to go ahead and look into the methods you said. I surely dont want any hair on my head that looks more dried than what i have. Does anybody know of a place in los angeles area. I called one place and they do the pinching method but said it starts at $2300. I almost passed out at that amount.

my hair was damaged from over coloring and i cut it off about 2 years ago and started wearing extensions then. i was so excited in the product i found i started selling it. i have the kerotin based glue dipped ends on my extensions and they don't damage my hair and the remover is oil based (not acetone based so it won't hurt my hair either) If you would like me to send you some information on it I can or if you just want to talk to me personally about extensions i would be happy to help all i can. I know how hard it is to trust someone with your hair. you can email or call if you like qproducts@aol.com, or 256-492-3824. good luck. sincerely, wendy bonner

I was thinking about getting great lengths the person that said it looks like horse hair can I ask you what race you are cause I am african american and I only see white people on the web site and I was wondering if it would look like horse hair on me is it the same as like track hair or braiding hair and is so cap extensions too because I have tried the track kind and you could feel the tracks and see them if your hair moves the wrong way and I didn't like that so I am thinking extesions will move a lot better and braiding pulls your hair out. I mean your hair grows but it makes it really thin so when it's growing it doesn't look healthy
