There has been alot of talk about which extensions are best. I've done extensions for over 10 years, I have gone to many seminars and had many samples sent to my business. Currently I am using 3 different methods. You wouldn't use the same method for different types of hair ( strong, weak, course, fine, ) all hair needs to be evaluated and a stress test needs to be performed. Beware of anyone not doing a free consultation. If the hair is strong enough and in fairly good condition, my favorite by far is So Cap. The hair is alot like Great Lengths, however the keratin polymer is far superior (much easier removal process). The hair is almost the same price. Every now and again So Cap hair will shed a little more (but I send it right back to the company) lately all the hair sent by So Cap has been perfect. Hair locs and euro locs are pretty good companies also. Especially for very fine or damaged hair. Believe it or not a have sent a few away and wouldn't do their extensions. I just feel so cap and great lenghths look the most natural. I can't stress enough how important the removal process is. I use an extremely rich conditioner soaked on the girls heads before I even attempt to remove them- then I crack the polymer shell - next they have to sit with rich conditioner on their heads long enough for the extension to fall out on it's own. Along with the conditioner I put on the remover ( I almost forgot!)
I have never noticed broken hair with So Cap extensions. I feel great lengths breaks the hair a little because the polymer is too hard to get out. Although if the hair is stong enough you can achieve success with Great Lengths. I live in Charlotte N.C. but wherever you live call me with any questions 803 493 5739. I have worn extensions for a long time and searched long and hard for the best method-because my hair is very fine and breaks easily. Also no one should be charging you for the removal, But some salons have alot of overhead and naturally extensions will be more. I have never charged anyone over $1000 and usually start at $750. Personally I feel more then that is alot to charge if you don't have alot of overhead. Call me with all questions 803 493 5739.

I'm wondering if you could address several specific questions I have regarding GL's
-read lots of storys about matting and tangle problems with GL and wondered if a client is willing to use the GL products and follow directions of care, would this likley be an issue? Even with long 24" extensions?
- With GL what is the REALISTIC average of months in?
- Do you recomend having extensions put right back on after removal?
- Can you give several suggestions on how to and when to shampoo and care techniques you follow for
care of longer extensions. Such as using a wide tooth comb vs. brushing when wet?
- Is it unrealistic of me to ask my salon to talk to several other clients of theirs for their experience?
- Does GL's have a "how to care for your extensions" handbook or anything? I just can't understand how some people have such bad experiences with GL's.
-what medications should a client not be on when considering extensions?
- Do you agree that the bond needs to be blow dried right away and not let it air dry?
Does your salon have a web page or anything? Could you suggest where someone like me could get
more information on this?
Is was so kind of you to offer your advice on this to
all us out here that need objective information. Thank you so much....

Hi Elizabeth,
I would be happy to answer some of the things for you online. However I don''t feel comfortable going into depth about certain companies online. Feel free to call and chat with me about extensions anytime. If I am with a client, I will return your call ASAP.
For most hair extensions I would not recommend leaving them in for more than 4 months- unless your stylist checks to make sure there is no tangling between scalp and extension. A wide tooth comb is what I use- but peridically I use a very soft bristle brush along the root. I go into care of the hair in depth with all my clients. in some cases I have put the hair right back in after the removal ( only in certain hair types, some of my clients have very strong hair.) If I am concerned about the integrity of the hair at all- I will wait a day or so to do the extensions again. I have a reconstructive complex that is simply great that I use on my clients between extension applications if needed. I sell a hydrokeratin shampoo that I use on my extensions most of the time-but not always. It is important to keep extensions conditioned and to use good products on them. Any stylist should supply you with some references, that''s fair and I offer references to my clients. It is a good thing to hold a blow dryer right up next to the extensions protein polymer after shampooing for a while. It sort of zaps the polymer back to a tight grip. Back it doesn''t matter if the hair is blown all the way dry.
I prefer So Cap compared to GL. as a hairdresser and a wearer, I know how much easier they are to remove and the hair is very much alike. Call me with any questions *803-493-5739*

Hi Cathy!

Can you answer to few questions, please?

My hair is very fine texture and density is medium scandinavian hair.

Do you think it is better for me to choose so.cap instead of GL?

Can I wear so.cup as long as GL? About 4-6 months?

What about removing hair? What do you mean by soaking girls hair in conditioner? Do you mean their hair are wet with water and conditioner when you remove it? OR do you put conditioner to dry hair?

So you feel that so.cup is much easier to remove and doest damage hair as much as GL?

Kathy,

Thanks for answering, but I think I cannot call you because of the time difference and the price of the telephone call because I live in Finland :-) (small country next to Sweden)

That's why I'm here online.

I haven't found any information here in Finland. I know that many hairdressers does hair extensions here, but I don't know their methods and I feel its too hard to call many hairdressers to find who is using so.cup method.

So I try to find information about different method first and then I try to find a hairdresser, who uses that method.

ps. time here in Finland is 11:40 PM and CSTThe time now is 12-Oct-2004 3:26:37 PM
