Now I'm obsessed. Every photo I see of Prostyles or Plastikhaar wavy looks so hot! Some of the straight ones look amazing, too. Can anybody tell me why they don't like synthetic hair or why they prefer human? There must be a downside to synth that I'm overlooking.... Can any stylists tell me why they prefer to work with human hair?

From the way I understand the bad opinions of synthetic hair are about low quality cheap synthetic hair that you can buy in all beauty supply stores. The high quality professional grade fiber hair such as prostyles, dome, trimco plastikhaar have just recently become available to DIYers. I havent tried it yet myself, but from all the reviews on quinsters board it seems the high grade fiber may be a great alternative to human hair.

Yeah, I'm thinking that, too. Ultimately, I'd love to switch to synthetic if it looked good and was easy to maintain. The continual hunt for human hair in the right texture, length, and color is a real hassle. Plus, I don't like the politics of the hair trade.

One of the biggest problems I have with all extensions (at least the ones I've had) is that they look good when they're first styled, but always seem to want to bunch up in piece-y strands (wefts probably don't do this, I guess). I wonder if synthetic hair would stay separated better...
