I'm sure some of these companies throw animal hair into the mix sometimes (how would we know?). But I do think most of it's just Asian hair that's been processed, and processed, and processed within an inch of its life. There was a big discussion about using horsetail on Quinn's awhile back, and the consensus (although it's beautiful, superthick, long hair) is that it's way too coarse for human beings. (One girl had them in as extensions and had to take them out because they were scratching up her back like mad!) Yak may be very white hair that's easy to dye, but it's also very kinky, and to get it to a silky-straight or wavy texture would also require tons of processing. the thing that sucks w/synth. is the no heat factor. your going to get your shrinkies with syth, right? do you think shrinkies would fall under the fusion methods? your prob. right about the animal hairs... that's funny about the horse hair irritating her back... I doubt angora would be useful as a wig material. The hairs are superfine and not very long. They have to be blended with another fiber in order to spin into yarn, and even then the garments shed like mad and wear thin quickly. ------------- 
Just looking for a few good hair slaves - is that too much to ask? |

Well, as I understand it, with the high-quality monofibre, you can use heat to a certain extent--hot rollers and blowdryers (preferably with diffusers). Ideally, you wouldn't really need to use hot tools much with them. But it's true: A hot curling iron or flatiron will fry the stuff, so I guess I'll see how it works out. I think Emma has been experimenting with a more heat-resistant fiber, so we'll see how that goes.... I actually wouldn't categorize shrinkies as fusion, just because the glue isn't the primary component of the shell, although it is necessary for reinforcement. I do think there's a distinction between shrinkies and fusion, such as Great Lengths, Cinderella, or nail glue used with the gun. In a way, shrinkies are almost a loc-ing/fusion hybrid, with their own unique "shrinkable" component. Yeah, I can't imagine that angora (at least the kind I've seen) would work in the hair at all. There are so many different theories on the origins of extensions hair these days. I've heard everything from animals to cloning to Russian prisoners to dead people to genuine U.S.A. strands--who really knows?
