My hair is happily growing but now that it is moving towards my waist I find it getting tangled in all sorts of weird things. Today I shut the car door on it. Does anyone have this problem and what do you do to avoid it?

I used to have hair past my butt and would do that...

...snag on door handles, cabinet handles, dresser knobs
...shut in the fridge, car doors, doors in general...

basically I just made sure I had it gathered in front of me or smoothed my hand over it ( sorta like smoothing ur skirt before sitting down) before incountering a dangerous situation.

Hello Tina:

Welcome to the new world learning how to have humour and enjoy life hopefully without many problems while having long hair.

Many times I have closed the car door on my hair. Got stuck in a seatbelt once.
Had it caught in a filing cabinet.
The worse one for me to get use to is that my hair will often prevent me from turning sides in bed or I find my better half sleeping on my hair and I can`t move and almost always having to shove him off my hair.
My birds have been caught in my hair. ( not a pretty feeling lol)
Oh the best one was when I was a rep and tried to take off my coat in front of client and couldn`t because of my hair was nicely wrap around a button.
My latest one was when I went dancing and for whatever reason as I turned this other guy ended up with a handful of my hair. Poor man. His face was very red. It wasn`t even my partner. lol
The weirdest moment I ever had was when I went to a single dance and this guy asked me to dance and for whatever reason he decided to take a nap on my hair while we were dancing and his earring got caught. ( yeah and they wonder why I won`t go to single dances anymore lol)

I tried very hard to make sure that my hair is pushed to one side when I get into the car or go to bed. I will try my best to make sure my hair is under my coat so prevent awkwards moments.

Hi All,

Well I literally got my hair caught in a tree. Not once, but twice. I got it caught in a ficus tree at a Barnes & Noble and had to drag the tree (luckily not too big) to the front of the store to be detangled. Yes, I was mortified. My hair was loose and it was trailing behind me as I paid no attention while looking at books. Somehow the back got snagged in some leaves.

I also got caught in a tree at my old job. My friend Jane Bullock (who writes for HairBoutique.com) actually rescued me and was laughing so hard at my hair emergency that I thought she would drop over. She loves to tell the story. I bent down to pick up a book I dropped and when I stood up my hair again snagged some leaves of yet another ficus tree.

To this day I avoid those trees like the plague. I have also gotten my hair caught in my power windows, the draws of my desk, my front door and several other "I was not paying attention" places.

Thanks for sharing. I always love to hear that others have the same long hair challenges. :-)

Best wishes,
Karen

Hello,

I find that having long hair is, well,
to be honest with you, quite bothersome
at times.

Maybe it`s just because I am a very
busy person, but I truly prefer it to be
put up into a bun or at least wrapped
up in a scrunchie most of the time.

I rarely wear my hair down unless I`m
enjoying a leisure day at home.
Ha! Leisure?

At any rate, I have found that the fastest
way to gather my hair is to twist it as if
I were going to wear a bun, and then place a
chopstick under the bun and secure the top
with a scrunchie pulled over both ends of
the chopstick.

As soon as I get my serial cable back for
my camera, I will post a picture of what I
am talking about to try and make it easier
to understand, as I know I`m not the best
explainer.

:-)

Happy New Year and much long hair to you,

Karen Marie
