So I rec'd my hair sample today ...
And OMG is it some beautiful stuff :D
I got a sample in the mittel blond colour, it's as light as air, and soft, shiny, with a nice loose wave ...(not so shiny that it looks like barbie-doll hair :D )
This kinda settles it, i'm def. going to buy this hair for my first-time extensions :)
The only thing that I think I'll have a problem with, is that the mittel blond on the website really doesn't look like this stuff at all ..the picture posted looks darker, and less of a rich, light brown :o
So I'll either hafto break down and buy a colour ring to be on the safe side, or post pictures and ask everyone's opinions :D :D hehehe :) I'm also just debating re-dyeing my hair to it's natural shade of brown to match! :) :)
Anyhow, just thought I'd share this w/everyone

After Sara from plastikhaar wrote a few posts on this board about her hair, and said she does free samples, I decided to bug her for some :D
Her website is http://www.plastikhaar.ch/wholesale - http://www.plastikhaar.ch/wholesale And her email is sara@plastikhaar.ch
She was hella nice about everything too - she even sent the sample priority mail! O.O (it made it here to fairbanks in about a week 1/2 ..and mail to alaska is always slow :p)

Looks great, Aeone. I can't wait to get mine! Is that the 50mm wave (or another mm)? It looks beautiful.
I have heard that some of the colors onscreen are quite different than the actual colors. I sent Sara a picture of the color hair I wanted, and she made recommendations based on that. (Rae from Quinnster's has a color ring, too, so she was able to point me in the right direction.) Do you know how much the color ring costs? If PlastikHaar works out as well as I'm hoping it will, I might invest in one of those, too.
:)

Yea, it is the 50 mm wave :D Hmm, I just peeped on her website, and it lists the colour rings as $56.04 for the natural colour ring, and 72.90 for the fancy colour ring ...hehehe, I don't think I'll purchase one of those anytime soon - my bohyme ring only cost 35 (including shipping!)
Woah, what's with everyone's prices rising, too? I just noticed Plastikhaar went from 9.50/pack to 14.05 ...O.o Same with the Dome hair!

Yeah, I noticed the price increases, too. But PH is still the best deal around, it seems; I imagine Sara must be inundated with orders now.
Dome's shipping is insane, by the way. I placed an order just because this is the first time I'm trying synth, so I wanted to check out a few brands to see which one was the best, but honestly, I won't be ordering Dome again unless it's the greatest hair on the planet. The base price isn't too bad, but with the shipping, it really adds up. :)

ooooohh when did the PH prices go up? I must have just got my order in before the increase. I only ordered about 4 days ago. Yeah even with the increase its still VERY reasonably priced!

The increase was quite recent, actually. I get the impression that the previous price was wholesale, and you've gotta' figure, if Sara's filling all of these different custom orders and sending out free samples and stuff, that adds up on her end. I agree: The price is still very reasonable; particularly after spending hundreds (sometimes even thousands) on human hair, I'm thrilled with $14 a bag! :)

How long does this type of hair last? Does it tangle easily (like doll hair) or stay nice for awhile?

I'm also curious how well the plastic withstands heat. The fashion colors are great. Aeone could you test your sample with an iron? Let us know how it goes!

PH will melt with an iron. you can only use low heat or velvet rollers.
I think the price increase was today or yesterday, I got an email about it and about how she didn't want to do it but how she had to.
edit:typos
edit: sherrie, yes we should make our own colour rings together!!!! i have platin and 2 other colors i cant remember

Yea, it's supposed to melt w/ direct heat from an iron...
...but I just had to experiment with my curling iron anyhow
So I have one of those Conair irons that has a heat selector, which goes from 1 (slightly warm) to 20 (bloody hot). The first time around, I tried to curl a small section of my sample at the lowest setting - the plastikhaar didnt melt, but it didnt take a curl, either. And then I set my iron to the 3rd setting, with the same results - no melting, and no curl.
But I'm too damn impatient :D ...so I said to heck w/it, and bumped up the heat to 15, and it didn't melt .....and it didnt curl at all, either. Not even a semblance of a wave ..it just looked stringy heh x.X
sooooo...steam rolling would probably be the best way to go, i'd think? *ponder*

The color rings sound like a great idea--I think most of us are still waiting for our orders, but we should definitely organize a sample swap (that is, if we don't all order the same colors LOL)!

Just got my samples today, too. Nice color and beautiful wave.
Do not -- I repeat -- do not put heat to this hair. I tested a small portion of the ends with a curling iron that was on for about 30 seconds and it kinked right up. The iron wasn't even what I'd consider very hot. There's no way to fix the hair once that happens... you'll have to cut that portion off. Really. The damage can't be reversed.
The 50mm and 28mm wave is stunning. Now, if it washes and dries OK and doesn't tangle, matt, and is able to be combed, I just may be doing the switch over.

Sara just e-mailed me saying she will send me a sample of the "weizen" shade in straight. Yea! QUESTION ~ will this synth hair be OK to use with the shrinkie method as long as I pretip it? I know from reading the previous posts it doesn't withstand heat directly, but if I pretip it will that be sufficient? I don't plan on curling it as I have stick straight hair to begin with...

As an experiment, I took some cheap Kanekelon I had no use for, braided it (1/2" wide x 1/4" deep braid), and dropped it in a pan of just-boiled water. After a minute I removed it, let it cool and blotted it dry. Wow! kink city. I wish my own hair would take a wave 1/4 as well. Somebody could probably put natural-looking waves in synthetic that way, so long as the braids are large enough across.

hi all
well i think i should answer some questions here : )
about the price increase... this is not satisfying me so far : / actually my problem is the very small orders. it takes the same time in packaging and packing costs as a big order but brings much less. im working on a special "loyality discount" option and a "quatity discount" option. as i wanna give good costumers better prices.. but i recalculated again. and now its 13.20$
as for the colourrings can make you an offer: if you only need the natural colours and if several of you are interested in getting one, i can place a bigger order and give it out more pricey.
oh and about the heat. curling irons are not very suitable. i prefer to steam the hair! its the best! i even figured how to make the most beautiful doll curls only by steaming the hair : ))
ohh and yeah! im working on a new colour chart! i soon have very good pictures of all the haircolours! i know its a bit crappy by now!
as for the wefts! you can have any kinds of wefts! max. lenght is 39inches. i can have any colours blended for wefts or even have multicoloured wefts, ( eg. 1inch white next 2 inches brown,...whatever!) but as i order all wefts costumised and do not have them in stock theres a min. order quatity of 5meter ( 1meter = 39inch) and of course if you order 5meter ill give you a better price : )
ohhh and another thing about heat! if your wearing straight synth hair brushing while blow dry your hair quite hot is very good for the hair. but you might need a bit of practice for that. synth hair can get a bit "dry" after some months. but i keep blow dry mine every week so they stay smooth and shiny.. but of course that method is killing any kind of curls or waves.. just for straight!
if your having some more questions... go on : )

Thanks for your reply, Sara. A lot of us are trying synth (and PlastikHaar) for the first time, so we're just trying to figure out how it differs from human hair in terms of care.
Maybe if you get a chance, it might be valuable to post some general care guidelines (what to do, what not to do), with recommended products, brushing, washing, and blow-drying instructions, and such. This might actually be a good thing to have on your Web site (although I'm sure you're very busy with your own customers in Zurich, but maybe sometime....).
I think a lot of us are wondering how to best keep the curl in the extensions. As I understand it, synth becomes straighter over time. So how would you suggest reviving it, etc.? Generally, how long will it maintain its shape before you need to recurl or steam it? How long does the hair usually last?
As always, thanks for all of your help with this, Sara. I really appreciate your putting so much effort into your customer service. :)

Yeah it is alot of hair...but I know Ill still be wearin' and doin' extensions for a long time so it wouldnt go to waste! She has to cutom order the wefts so she has to cover her costs! Interesting thought... I bet there would be enough people that would be intersted in purchasing the extra weft ..... theres an idea!
