I just put in some loose extensions with a glue gun and rolling by hand. It's a little tricky trying to get everything in the right place before the glue starts to cool down, but I'm managing. So far so good. I'm going to give it a few weeks and see how everything holds up. HOWEVER, I wonder if there are any experienced fusionists out there who can offer some trips/tricks for hand rolling. It would be greatly appreciated!

Also, can anyone explain to me the use of a fusion wand? Is that where you use nail hair? Can it also be used with DIY pre-tipped hair?

How does a fusion wand compare with using a glue gun and hand rolling? I'm pretty set on glue gun/hand rolling at the moment, but I'm very interested in learning about your personal experiences with a fusion wand. Thanks!

Hi there, have you tried finger condoms for the rolling process instead of using a silicone pad, they are far easier.

Also yes you are right one of the uses for a fusion wand is for nail hair, you can't just use the fusion wand for the pre-tipped hair chick xx

I'm not sure. You can get them from Just 4 Wigs and they're brilliant, they're called rubber finger protectors xx

Hand fusion with a gun is very difficult to master! Its so hard to get the glue to penetrate through the extension hair and then rolled into the natural hair before the glue starts to harden, and you end up with SHEDDING! If you really want to do hand fusion the best way is with a hotpot. It makes it so much easier and eliminates the shedding. Just dip the strand into the glue and kinda brush the strand side to side (on the edge of the pot or in the little island in the pot). It helps get the glue distributed through the strands before you roll it into the natural hair. I use a fusion wand with prebonded "nailhair". And its simple to do. You can also use the prebonded "stickhair" to do hand fusion just add a bit more glue cause the stick hair usually doesnt have enough glue by itself. You can also use your own pretipped hair if you pretip with the same glue that you use to hand fuse. I would just make sure your pretips are very small or else youll end up with some pretty big bonds!

I cant use those finger guards! They really do help protect you fingers from the heat but for me they are just to cumbersome. I guess Id rather burn my fingers LOL!

the fingerguards are a rubber tip that slides over your finger.

i dont seem to have any problems with rolling. seems to me , the moment my fingers cant grip the fusion i go wash my hands. it is amazing how much oil comes through our skin so fast.it is also a palmdown roll, middle finger with thumb. no rubbers.

the gun sucks. when I had my fusion I shed 1/2 my hair. ugh.

I would HIGHLY recommend getting a melting pot if you plan on doing fusion, then you can dip the ends, coating them all, and hand roll it on your clients head, greatly reducing the shedding.

this is all unless you pre tip the hair. if you pre tip it, then I suppose you could just use the tip of the gun to heat it on your clients hair? either that or a heat clamp.

but all in all, the gun sucks.
