yesterday i went to get my great lengths removed. i had them in for about three months and they looked good, the process was a lot of money. when the tech took them out, she used the remover and something that looked like pliers and had to yank each one out. they dont come off easily, and hours later i had no hair. there was so much breakage, i had shoulder length hair before this and now its all gone. i was crying afterwards and she asked me if i still wanted the new ones, but what could i say? my hair looks so bad with out them that i had no choice. now its so bad i would have to cut a pixie cut to wear my own hair. i asked her why this happenhed and she says it happends with all her great lengths clients...worse for thin hair. she said she does wefts too but said they would not be good for me. ' i dont want to go back to this woman. what can i do? shes been doing great lengths a long time and is nice, so i don't get it? does she suck or the method? has this happneed to anyone else? thanks guys, im so glad i found this site. |

That is horrible. No extensions should do that to your hair . ever If your in NYC let me take a look at it. So charge. I need to see this. Over the years i have had about 12 clients with messed up hair from great lengths. They are so horrible and to much money. Isaac |

pleasehelpme...dont EVER go back to this woman or eventually you will have no hair at all! They were very CARELESS if they were yanking out your extensions. That is BULLS**T. I do a similar method of preglued fusion extensions and I never yank anyones hair out. I take all the time necessary to carefully remove them. Please go to someone else, or read read read on this board, its not that difficult to learn how to do a few of the methods yourself. Ditto everything Isaac and Sherrie said. And what's more, I've had very similar experiences with both Great Lengths and Cinderella and it was really traumatic, so I feel for you--believe me, I know what it's like. I truly don't think fusion is healthy for the hair (not that any method of extensions truly is), but the damage you're describing is just unacceptable. I think fusion would've damaged my hair no matter who did it, but it would've been a lot better if my Great Lengths stylist wasn't an impatient, sadistic *******. The last time I had them, my boyfriend acutally took them out. We used a lot of oil to loosen the bonds and it was 20 times less painful and damaging than when my "professional stylist" did it. That said, you need to make some decisions now, the first of which should be to NEVER, EVER go back to this person again. Really. It will only get worse. The next is to find another method that you can either A) do yourself, or B) have someone do for you. If you are in NYC, give Isaac a call. He's done my hair many times since I left the Great Lengths people, and he never rips my hair out. I swear. Or, look into the DIY methods discussed on this board. Shrinkies, extendtubes, braids, etc., are all possibilities. If you did your own fusion, it probably wouldn't be as bad as what you're paying an arm and a leg for now. i do the great lengths and have NEVER had that problem. that woman did not put them in properly.that is so sad. the removal method is 99% alcohol the you take the pliers and squeeze. if the bond is the right size(did she precut them) the slide right out. i have yet to hurt anyone with them. it doesnt take me long either. i really dont know of a certified GL tech. just out of curiosotiy,do you know if your tech is actually certified by the company to apply or did she just pick it up herself. |

I had 2 applications of great lengths several years ago. When the technicican removed them, they came out quite easily. There was no tugging, pulling or ripping them out. I understand this isn't always the case, and maybe in my case they came out easily because i have very silky, slippery hair. But it sounds like the person who put yours in has no idea what they're doing! That should never happen. Do not go back! ------------- |

Pleasehelpme, I'm so sorry to hear about your hair situation. I would suggest that you wear clip in extensions until your hair has time to recover. There's a lot of info here about clip in's and if you have any specific questions, I'd be happy to try to help. I now wear clip ins on a daily basis and like look great! No one knows I wear them, they just think I have naturally beautiful, long, thick hair. Hang in there! |

It sounds like she didn't use the proper solvent to soften the bonds. The pliers are supposed to crush the bonds after they have softened up, and the bonds should crumble if they are ready. The pliers are not supposed to be used to yank out the hair that's holding the extension. Definitely have someone else remove them when the time comes. And take lots of pictures to post or use for evidence. Isn't there someone you can report her to? Maybe you can get together with other clients of hers and sue. -------------
